Marek Chwal, a project manager at CodiLime, is elected Tungsten Fabric Community Release Manager.
Tungsten Fabric (previously OpenContrail) is an open-source network virtualization solution for providing connectivity and security for virtual, containerized, or bare-metal workloads. It is developed under the umbrella of The Linux Foundation. Among the main contributors to Tungsten Fabric, CodiLime’s engineers work to ensure that it is stable, resilient, and flexible enough to be integrated with various client stacks and clouds.
Given our contribution to Tungsten Fabric’s development, we are excited to see our project manager Marek Chwal elected the Community Release Manager.
Marek has more than twenty years of professional experience as a QA, Business Analyst, Scrum Master, and Project Manager. Since 1998 he has been involved in numerous interesting projects in a wide range of fields including telco, energy, utilities, pharma and transport & telematics. His specializations include requirement specification, project management, change & release management, ITIL process modeling and implementation, and last but not least team management.
“I am very happy to have been elected for this exciting role,” says Marek. ”I believe in the boundless potential of open-source communities. As a Community Release Manager, I hope to gain further experience in SDN and open-source projects. I would like to develop the release process to benefit the community and also meet interesting people from whom I can learn. I believe that with the support of CodiLime together with my comprehensive background in project management, I will thrive in the role of Community Release Manager.”
The Tungsten Fabric Community Release Manager guides the Project to the timely delivery of regular software releases and follow-on stable releases. The manager also oversees ad-hoc releases as required. The Release Manager works directly with the community to create a release plan, approve it, and develop the processes and procedures necessary to execute it.
Together with Casey Cain, Technical Program Manager at The Linux Foundation, Marek will deliver a presentation on the current status of the Tungsten Fabric release process during the Virtual LFN Developer & Testing Forum, which will be held online June 22-25, 2020.
